Comedian George Lopez has a special way of thanking the sports figures and famous faces that tee off in his annual charity fundraising Golf Classic every year. May 1, 2017, marked the 10th Anniversary of the George Lopez Celebrity Golf Classic in Toluca Lake and Lopez celebrated by hosting PR impresario Doris Bergman’s “Gratitude Lounge.” That luxury gifting suite featured innovative products, new and different libations, and designer “swag” created to outfit his guests in style from head to toe to help them have a lovely day on the links, with all proceeds benefiting the The George Lopez Foundation.
Bling was definitely the star of the suite. With the help of George Lopez Foundation Sponsor Curtis & Co. Watches, George Lopez himself designed a commemorative timepiece for the occasion as his gift to the duffers. The sleek black-and-white wristwatch was scooped up by stars ranging from Andy Garcia and Sugar Ray Leonard to Eva Larue. My Saint My Hero offered handmade Benedictine medal bracelets to the golfers for luck and protection from above on the links.
Twisted Silver was on hand as well, featuring their asymmetrical reclaimed material bracelets, necklaces and jewelry; they are donating proceeds from the sales of their special “Smile Necklace” to The George Lopez Foundation, which raises awareness about kidney disease and organ donation. Lopez himself had a kidney transplant in 2005.
Keeping the celebs outfitted with stylish clothing was definitely on the gifting agenda, including ball caps and shirts from Signature Innovation Group, custom designed shoes and shirts from SneakerWarz and Harley Davidson gear from Glendale Harley Davidson. Glendale Harley brought along the new 2017 Harley Davidson Road King and no one could resist hopping onto the sweet cherry red ride for a photo op.
George Lopez joined many of the celebrity attendees at the lounge’s Title Sponsor BUYWINE.com booth and wine bar, where Veuve Clicquot champagne and lots of different wines were being poured – and gifted as well. We especially like the 2012 Pinot Noir from Reynolds Family Winery of the Napa Valley.
For those who wanted an extra zing in their afternoon of swag collecting, Spa Girl Cocktails handed out sips (and whole bottles) of their award-winning, low-calorie vodkas, in pear or cucumber flavors.
The hottest trends of the day were the cannabis-based healthcare and edible products featured in the Gratitude Lounge from different entrepreneurs inspired by the passing of California’s Proposition 64. Inspirit CBD Crème is created with Hemp Oil to help relieve arthritis, muscle tenderness and joint pain. Gemstonz and Mary Janes Medicinals also offered up THC and CBD infused topicals and salves for pain. For the latest in edibles, Perrywinkles offered nine different cannabis treats, including Banana Spliff Cake and Scoobie Dewbie Pretzel Nuggets, guaranteed to take the edge off a bad score. Tommy Chong and Cheech Marin showed up to support George Lopez and were not disappointed by the selection.
And there were lots more gratitude gifts to be had before the day was done, including hot-trending Om Audio headphones and earphones — a favorite of “Lethal Weapon” star Johnathan Fernandez and also a Title Sponsor of the event – as well as Petzi Treat Cams and an assortment of Rock Your Hair dry shampoo and styling products.
And to carry all that swag home? Naturally, there was a polycarbonate four-wheel carry-on piece of Whistler luggage from Olympia.
