DVD: Nights In Rodanthe

No modern movie couple passes the chemistry test as convincingly as Richard Gere and Diane Lane but not even their sharp turns can salvage this slowly cresting love story set on the outer banks of North Carolina.

Gere is a doctor who must learn humility, Lane is a housewife in need of self-confidence. You can imagine the rest. Still, there are small pleasures, including a soundtrack full of Dinah Washington tunes, a beautifully photographed horse stampede and, of course, the sparks struck by Gere and Lane. Extras: There’s no special features on the DVD but the Blu-Ray disc boasts a selection of alternate scenes, featurettes, commentary by director George Wolfe, and an Emmylou Harris music video.

Rated: PG-13

Christopher Meloni
