Whenever there’s a big event in Los Angeles, GBK is always part of the mix. That’s the company that hosts luxury gifting lounges for Hollywood stars and other celebrities – this time out GBK celebrated the 2017 American Music Awards with a “Pre-AMAs Luxury Lounge” that was cosponsored by Custom Comfort Mattress (who hosted the lounge at their Beverly Boulevard address in WeHo), along with Body System Wellness, HOPii and Plus Products.
Plus Products is riding the wave into 2018 when marijuana becomes fully legal in California, with their handcrafted cannabis-based edible products. The Oakland-based company gifted discreet little tins packed with sativa- or indica-based gummy candies that pack a wallop of 200 mg of THC in each one. Some are less potent (100 mg), all are gluten free and will put a smile on your face, without any of the nasty smoking side effects. The company already sells the edibles in California dispensaries and when legal sales begin, they’re confident the tasty tidbits will be all the rage.
Tapping into another craze is HOPii, the home-brewing device that allows anyone to become a craft-beer maker. That sleek, award-winning invention is small enough to fit on a kitchen counter, but brews three liters of your favorite specialty beer. It takes care of all the complexities of brewing; and was a huge hit at the luxury lounge, despite the fact that it won’t actually be shipping until late spring of 2018.
There were more ways to get a bit high at the luxury lounge that honored both American Music Awards nominees and presenters, as Moranga Vineyards poured tastings of their Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon and invited guests to visit their Bel-Air vineyard. Mixologists from Riviera Imports set up a convivial bar, too, where guests could sample both Tres Papalote Meszcal and Kind of Blue Whiskey.
But it was easy for stars including Randy Jackson, Joey Lawrence, Khandi Alexander, Sofia Milos and Emma Kenney to keep their heads out of the clouds, as the Good Greek Grill kept seriously good tacos filled with gyro meat (lamb, beef or chicken) and drenched with homemade tzatziki going the whole afternoon. That little joint on Yucca Street in Hollywood is now on our list of places to eat when we’re running around Tinseltown.
There were decadent desserts, too, some spiked with rum or tequila, served up by Sugar and Spyked, who specialize in booze-infused cupcakes and other goodies, as well as Intelligent Blend gourmet coffees and teas packed in recyclable pods, to help cut the sugar and booze high!
No GBK gifting lounge would be complete without some cool electronics; at this one, Audio-Technica gifted celebs with a sleek pair of their newest wireless on-ear headphones, which have a brilliant sound range with Bluetooth connectivity. On the adornment side, Wear Your Music gifted unisex bracelets crafted from guitar strings and explained that they also offer bracelets from strings originally used by famous musicians including John Mayer, Brian May, Bonnie Raitt and many others. Pretty cool concept!
More fun ideas included Nica Travel’s Nicaraguan Concierge Service created to help travelers head to Nicaragua with bespoke service and guidance and Caribbean Living magazine and Palace Resorts’ gift of an all-inclusive stay at Jamaica’s Moon Palace.
And another excellent concept showcased for the stars at the GBK Pre-AMAs Luxury Lounge was the Custom Comfort Mattress custom-made mattress idea, using natural materials to construct a bed that is designed specifically to your body – and the space you have in your bedroom, too. They showcased an enormous bed at the luxury lounge, one of those “co-sleeping” beds that could hold a whole family. Of course, you’d need a mansion for that one, which might not be a problem for many of the stars that enjoyed the suite. Adding to the healthy living theme was Body Systems Wellness, a Glendale clinic on hand that specializes in infusions to promote wellness (they were actually giving infusions on site) as well as Tod Miller, whose Bodywalking therapy sessions had people allowing him to walk on their bodies.
