One of the most anticipated food events of the year took place on a Sunday afternoon in October at the majestic Saddlerock Ranch in the Malibu hills. Los Angeles Magazine puts on this spectacular culinary feast that is simply called The Food Event. The home of Malibu Family Wines, makers of Saddlerock and Semler wines served as the site for this tasting event. More than 40 of the finest restaurants and food purveyors in the greater Los Angeles area provided samples of their menus. Guests tasted some amazing food, drank a variety of wines, beers and cocktails while enjoying a beautiful autumn day at the scenic ranch setting.
tequila and Jimmy Shaw’s Loteria Grill
joined forces for a series of tastings that paired food selections with the premium tequila. Herradura
is one of the oldest makers of fine tequilas and Loteria Grill
is well respected in Los Angeles for their authentic Mexican cuisine. What set the series in motion was Shaw’s fondness for the Herradura
brand and his custom designed signature private reserve double barrel reposado that was bottled recently and introduced at the tasting series.
Los Angeles Magazine hosted a fine culinary evening of wine tasting, tequila cocktails, and recipe demonstrations featuring Jimmy Shaw of Lotería Grill (www.loteriagrill.com). The event took place at the upscale home appliance store Snyder Diamond in Santa Monica, CA. Tasty appetizers were prepared by Brian Beaudry, chef for Sub Zero/Wolf appliances. Ian Blackburn, the founder of www.LearnAboutWine.com selected the wines.
Another culinary extravaganza took place on a glorious Sunday afternoon at CBS in Studio City. The 24th Annual Great Chefs of Los Angeles “Go Green, Go Organic,” event brought together some of L.A.’s top chefs and area foodies. There was an abundance of delicacies, wine, beer, music and auctions to benefit the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org) serving Southern California and Southern Nevada.
